Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce optional for serving

  • Cookie sheet or baking tray
  • Parchment paper
  • Oven
  • Meat thermometer (optional)

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Line a cookie sheet or baking tray with parchment paper.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.
  4. Shape the mixture into 24 meatballs about 1 inch in diameter.
  5. Place the meatballs on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
  6. Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until browned and an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C) is reached.
  7. While the meatballs bake, heat the marinara sauce on the stove until warm.
  8. Serve the meatballs hot with or without marinara sauce.

Notes

Meatballs can be made ahead and frozen for up to 3 months; avoid overmixing to keep them juicy.
