  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Equipment

  • Espresso machine or coffee maker
  • Blender or milk frother
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Small saucepan
  • Mug or latte glass

Method

  1. Brew 1 cup strong coffee or pull espresso shot using an espresso machine or coffee maker (about 3–5 minutes).
  2. In a bowl, mash the ripe banana until smooth (about 1 minute).
  3. Heat the milk in a small saucepan over medium heat until hot and steaming but not boiling (about 3 minutes).
  4. Combine the mashed banana, brewed coffee, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt in a blender.
  5. Blend on medium speed for 30 seconds until the mixture is smooth and frothy.
  6. Froth the hot milk using a milk frother until light and foamy (about 1 minute).
  7. Divide the banana-coffee mixture between two mugs and gently pour the frothed milk over the top.
  8. Sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon on each latte and serve immediately.

Notes

Use a very ripe banana for the best natural sweetness and flavor.
