Ingredients

Main
  • 1 cup bourbon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • Measuring cups
  • Measuring spoons
  • Whisk
  • Heatproof spatula

Method

  1. In a medium saucepan, mix the bourbon, brown sugar, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and black pepper. This mixture is the heart of your glaze.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat. Heat for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until the sugars dissolve and ingredients meld.
  3. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Continue to simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Reduce heat to medium-low. Allow the mixture to simmer until it reduces by half, about 10 minutes, thickening to a sticky consistency.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. The glaze will thicken more upon standing.
  6. Use immediately or transfer to a jar for storage. Refrigerate for up to 1 week or freeze for up to 3 months.

Notes

Always taste before using; adjust sweetness or acidity according to your preference!
