Method
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare baking sheets by lining them with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until evenly combined.
- In a separate bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add eggs one at a time to the butter and sugar mixture, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined. Do not overmix.
- Gently fold in chocolate chips or any other mix-ins of choice.
- Using a cookie scoop or spoon, drop heaping tablespoons of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing evenly.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
- Remove from oven and let cookies cool on wire racks for at least 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
For softer cookies, take them out when still slightly underbaked. Chilling the dough for 30 minutes enhances thickness. Feel free to customize with different mix-ins or flavorings.
