Method
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add 1 pound ground beef and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula.
- Stir in 1 packet taco seasoning and 1 cup water. Bring to a simmer over medium-low heat.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Place 4 crunchy taco shells on a baking sheet and bake for 3-5 minutes to crisp.
- Lay 4 soft flour tortillas on a flat surface. Sprinkle 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese evenly over each tortilla.
- Remove taco shells from oven and fill each shell with the seasoned beef mixture.
- Place each cheese-topped tortilla over a filled taco shell and press gently to adhere.
- Top with 1 cup shredded lettuce, 1/2 cup diced tomatoes, and a dollop of sour cream. Serve immediately.
Notes
For extra crunch, use a panini press to gently toast the assembled gorditas before serving.
