Ingredients

Main
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice about 4-6 lemons
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 cups cold water
  • Ice for serving
  • Lemon slices for garnish (optional)

Equipment

  • Juicer or reamer
  • Measuring cups
  • Pitcher
  • Spoon for stirring
  • Ice cubes

Method

  1. Cut the lemons in half and use a juicer to extract the juice. Fresh juice is key for that authentic flavor.
  2. Measure out the sugar and set it aside. This will balance the tartness of the lemon juice.
  3. In a pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice and sugar. Stir until the sugar fully dissolves, which may take a couple of minutes.
  4. Pour in the cold water to the lemon-sugar mixture. This helps dilute the strong lemon flavor.
  5. Taste and adjust sweetness by adding more sugar if necessary.
  6. Chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to let flavors meld.
  7. Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the lemonade over the top.
  8. Add lemon slices for garnish, serve cold and enjoy.

Notes

Use freshly squeezed lemon juice for authentic flavor. Adjust the sugar for desired sweetness. Chill well before serving for best taste.
