  • 2 cups assorted deli meats e.g., turkey, ham, roast beef
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup diced red onion
  • 1/4 cup diced pickles
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese cheddar or your choice
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon mustard optional
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 slices of your favorite bread white, whole grain, or ciabatta

Method
 

  1. Chop all deli meats into bite-sized pieces to ensure an even mix of flavors.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine chopped meats, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, red onion, and pickles.
  3. Stir in mayonnaise and mustard until all ingredients are evenly coated.
  4. Taste the filling and season with salt and pepper as needed.
  5. Spread a generous layer of the filling onto one slice of bread.
  6. Place a slice of cheese on top of the filling for added creaminess.
  7. Top with the second slice of bread and press gently; optionally toast in a sandwich press or skillet for 3–5 minutes until golden.
  8. Cut the sandwich in half and serve immediately for the best crunch and flavor.

Notes

For extra rich flavor, add a splash of your favorite hot sauce to the filling.
