  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts optional

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl

  • 9x9-inch baking pan
  • Parchment paper

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line a 9x9 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  3. In a mixing bowl, melt the butter in the microwave or over low heat.
  4. Add the granulated sugar to the melted butter and whisk until well combined.
  5. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition.
  6. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  7. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  8. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  9. Fold in the chopped nuts, if using.
  10. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  11. Bake for 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Notes

For extra fudginess, remove from the oven when a toothpick inserted shows moist crumbs.
