Method
- Heat 2 cups of vegetable oil in a deep frying pan or pot to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon paprika, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper.
- Pour 1 cup buttermilk into a separate bowl and dip each mushroom into the buttermilk, coating it completely.
- Dredge each buttermilk-coated mushroom in the flour mixture, ensuring an even and full coating.
- Carefully place the coated mushrooms in the hot oil in batches to avoid overcrowding and maintain the oil temperature.
- Fry the mushrooms for about 3-4 minutes or until they turn golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the fried mushrooms with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve the fried mushrooms hot with your favorite dipping sauce and enjoy immediately.
Notes
For extra flavor, add grated Parmesan cheese to the flour mixture or serve with garlic aioli or marinara sauce.
