Ingredients

Main
  • 2 pounds pork ribs cut into individual ribs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Equipment

  • Large pot or deep fryer
  • Slotted spoon or tongs
  • Mixing bowl
  • Meat thermometer
  • Paper towels

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine pork ribs and buttermilk and marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix all-purpose flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper to season the coating.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large pot or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Remove each rib from the buttermilk and dredge fully in the seasoned flour.
  5. Carefully place a few coated ribs at a time into the hot oil to avoid overcrowding.
  6. Fry the ribs for 5-7 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove the ribs with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  8. Let the ribs rest briefly, then serve hot with optional dipping sauces on the side.

Notes

Let the ribs rest for a few minutes after frying to improve their crunch.
