Ingredients

Main
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 cup warm water about 110°F or 43°C
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter melted

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • Plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel
  • Loaf pan
  • Oven
  • Cooling rack

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix warm water, honey, and melted butter until combined.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined, leaving some lumps.
  5. On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  6. Shape the dough into a ball, place in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap or a towel, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 30 minutes.
  7. Punch down the dough, shape into a loaf, place in a greased loaf pan, and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack before slicing.

Notes

For an extra touch, brush melted butter on top right after baking for a shiny crust and rich flavor.
