Ingredients

Main
  • 4 6 oz fillets of king salmon
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 lemon sliced for garnish

Equipment

  • Non-stick skillet or cast iron pan
  • Spatula
  • Measuring spoons
  • Serving platter
  • Paper towels

Method

  1. Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels to ensure crispy skin.
  2. Season each fillet evenly with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Heat a non-stick skillet or cast iron pan over medium-high heat and add the olive oil.
  4. Place salmon fillets skin-side down in the hot pan, ensuring they are not overcrowded.
  5. Sear the fillets without moving them for 4 to 5 minutes, until the skin is golden and crisp.
  6. Carefully flip the fillets using a spatula and cook for an additional 3 to 4 minutes.
  7. Check for doneness: salmon should flake easily and reach an internal temperature of 145°F (135°F for a slightly rare center).
  8. Remove salmon from the pan and let it rest for 2 minutes before serving with lemon slices.

Notes

Avoid flipping the salmon too early to keep the skin intact; patience is key!
