Ingredients
  

Main
  • 1 cup paneer cubed
  • 1 cup green peas fresh or frozen
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes pureed
  • 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream optional
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Equipment

  • Large skillet or wok
  • Chopping board

Method
 

  1. Chop the onion and puree the tomatoes; set aside.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
  3. Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Add the tomato puree and cook over medium heat until the oil separates, about 5 minutes.
  6. Add cumin seeds, coriander powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, and salt; cook for 30 seconds.
  7. Stir in the green peas and a splash of water if needed; cook until peas are tender, about 5 minutes.
  8. Gently fold in the paneer cubes and simmer for 5 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  9. If using heavy cream, stir it in and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  10. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with rice, naan, or roti.
