  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C).
  2. Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan with butter or non-stick spray.
  3. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk and beginning and ending with the flour mixture.
  7. Fold in the vanilla extract gently.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Notes

Avoid opening the oven door during baking to maintain a steady temperature; let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
