- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon baking powder, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1 tablespoon sugar until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, combine 1 cup milk (or milk alternative) and 1/4 cup vegetable oil (or melted butter).
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Grease a loaf pan with oil or baking spray.
- Transfer the batter to the prepared loaf pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown and the loaf sounds hollow when tapped.
- Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
