Method
- Rinse the okra under cool running water to remove any dirt or debris.
- Using a knife, trim off both ends of each okra piece.
- Optionally slice the okra into smaller pieces for a faster infusion.
- Place the whole or sliced okra into a glass jar or pitcher, then pour in 2 cups of water, fully submerging the okra.
- Cover the container and let it soak at room temperature for 4 to 8 hours, or refrigerate overnight (8 to 12 hours) for a stronger taste.
- If desired, strain out the okra pieces using a fine-mesh strainer for a smoother beverage.
- Add lemon slices, fresh ginger, or mint leaves to the water, then stir gently to combine.
- Pour the okra water into glasses, serve chilled or over ice, and enjoy immediately.
Notes
Store any leftovers in a sealed container in the refrigerator and consume within 2-3 days. Shake or stir before serving as ingredients may settle.
