Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ cup ketchup for topping

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the chopped onion and garlic until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, sautéed onion and garlic, egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper; mix until just combined.
  4. Transfer the mixture into a meatloaf pan and shape into a loaf.
  5. Spread the ketchup evenly over the top of the loaf.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  7. Remove from the oven and let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
  8. Slice the meatloaf and serve warm with your favorite sides.

Notes

Keep the meatloaf moist by not over-mixing; allow it to rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
