  • 4 large potatoes Russet or Yukon Gold work best
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Wash and scrub the potatoes under running water.
  3. Slice potatoes into 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick wedges or sticks.
  4. Optional: Soak cut potatoes in water for 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
  5. Drain and pat the potatoes dry with a clean towel.
  6. In a mixing bowl, toss potatoes with olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika until evenly coated.
  7. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spread potatoes in a single layer, avoiding overcrowding.
  8. Bake for 20 minutes, then flip fries and bake for an additional 10 to 15 minutes until golden and crispy.
  9. Remove fries from oven and serve immediately.

Notes

Soaking the potatoes helps achieve extra crispiness.
