Ingredients

Pork Wonton Filling
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger minced
  • 1/4 cup green onions chopped
  • 1 package wonton wrappers
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Rolling pin
  • Wonton wrappers
  • Large pot for boiling
  • Colander
  • Skillet (for frying)

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, and chopped green onions.
  2. Season the mixture with salt and pepper to taste and mix well until fully combined.
  3. Place about 1 teaspoon of filling in the center of a wonton wrapper, being careful not to overfill.
  4. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water, fold it in half diagonally to form a triangle, and press to seal tightly.
  5. Bring the two opposite corners of the triangle together and seal with a bit of water to form the classic wonton shape.
  6. Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil; gently add the wontons and cook for 4-6 minutes until they float to the top.
  7. Use a colander to drain the cooked wontons and serve immediately in broth or with your favorite dipping sauce.
  8. (Optional) For crispy wontons, heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and fry wontons for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.

Notes

Make a big batch and freeze extra wontons on a baking sheet, then transfer to a freezer bag for a quick meal later.
