Method
- Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).
- Trim any excessive fat from the pork shoulder, leaving some for moisture.
- In a small bowl, mix smoked paprika, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper to make the rub.
- Rub 2 tablespoons of olive oil all over the pork shoulder, then coat evenly with the spice rub.
- Heat a Dutch oven or roasting pan over medium-high heat and sear the pork shoulder on all sides until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove the pork and pour in 1 cup of chicken broth, then return the pork to the pot.
- Cover and roast in the preheated oven for 4 hours (240 minutes) until the meat is fork-tender.
- Let the pulled pork rest for 10-15 minutes, then shred it with two forks to serve.

Let the pulled pork rest for at least 10-15 minutes before shredding to keep the juices locked in.
