Ingredients

  • 1 pound medium shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Oil for frying
  • 3-4 sliced green onions for garnish

Method
 

  1. Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine 1/2 cup cornstarch, 1 teaspoon black pepper, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, and 1/2 teaspoon onion powder.
  3. Add the shrimp to the bowl and toss until completely coated in the cornstarch mixture.
  4. Heat about 1/2 inch of oil in a skillet over medium-high heat (around 350°F) for 3-5 minutes until hot.
  5. Carefully place the coated shrimp in the hot oil in a single layer and fry for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  6. Use a slotted spoon to remove the shrimp and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  7. Transfer the shrimp to a serving platter and garnish with sliced green onions.
  8. Serve immediately while hot and crispy.

Notes

Serve with sweet chili sauce or soy sauce for dipping.
