Ingredients

Main
  • 1 pound sirloin steak cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger optional

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Cutting board
  • chef's knife
  • Skillet or frying pan
  • Meat thermometer (optional)

Method

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, olive oil, minced garlic, ground black pepper, onion powder, and ground ginger if using to make the marinade.
  2. Add the sirloin steak pieces to the marinade, ensuring each piece is fully coated, and let marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Heat a skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat and add a little oil to prevent sticking.
  4. Add the marinated sirloin tips in a single layer and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until browned and a crust forms.
  5. Use a meat thermometer to check that the internal temperature reaches 145°F for medium-rare doneness.
  6. Transfer the cooked sirloin tips to a plate and let rest for 5 minutes to allow juices to redistribute.
  7. Serve the sirloin tips with your choice of sides such as rice, vegetables, or salad and enjoy.

Notes

Don’t skip the 5-minute resting period after cooking to ensure the meat stays juicy and tender.
