  • 1 cup sourdough starter active and bubbly
  • 1 cup warm water about 110°F
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast

Method
 

  1. Add 1 cup sourdough starter and 1 cup warm water (about 110°F) to the bread machine pan.
  2. Add 3 cups bread flour, 2 tablespoons sugar, 1 teaspoon salt, and 2 tablespoons olive oil, ensuring the flour covers the wet ingredients.
  3. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon active dry yeast over the top of the flour.
  4. Select the basic or sourdough program on the bread machine.
  5. Start the machine and let it run through the mixing, rising, and baking cycle (approximately 3 hours).
  6. When the cycle completes, carefully remove the bread pan and turn out the loaf onto a cooling rack.
  7. Let the bread cool for at least 20 minutes before slicing.
  8. Slice the cooled loaf and serve with butter or jam as desired.

Always ensure your sourdough starter is active and bubbly. Store leftovers wrapped tightly to maintain freshness.
