Method
- Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C) or prepare your grill for indirect heat.
- Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs to allow flavors to penetrate.
- In a bowl, combine garlic powder, onion powder, brown sugar, paprika, black pepper, and salt to make the rub.
- Generously coat both sides of the ribs with the rub, pressing it into the meat.
- Place the ribs in a large baking dish, cover tightly with aluminum foil, and bake at 300°F (150°C) for 2 hours.
- Remove the ribs from the oven, brush evenly with barbecue sauce, and return to bake uncovered for 10 minutes.
- Transfer the ribs to a preheated grill or broiler and cook for an additional 10–15 minutes until the sauce caramelizes.
- Remove from heat and let the ribs rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
For best results, marinate the ribs overnight and use a meat thermometer to ensure an internal temperature of 190°F (88°C).
