Method
- Bring 8 cups of water to a rolling boil in a large pot.
- Remove the pot from heat and add 5-6 bags of black tea (or 4 tablespoons loose tea).
- Steep the tea for 5-10 minutes, depending on desired strength.
- Carefully remove the tea bags or strain out loose tea without squeezing to avoid bitterness.
- While the tea is still warm, stir in 2 cups of granulated sugar until fully dissolved.
- If using, add 1 teaspoon of baking soda and stir well to smooth out the flavor.
- Pour the tea into a heatproof pitcher and let it cool at room temperature before refrigerating.
- Serve the sweet tea over ice with fresh lemon slices if desired.

Always steep your tea bags in boiling water for the best flavor infusion.
