Ingredients

Main
  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey or plant-based alternative
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 8 taco shells hard or soft, your choice
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup salsa
  • 1/4 cup sliced jalapeños optional

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Mixing bowls
  • Wooden spoon
  • Tong for flipping
  • Serving platter

Method

  1. Preheat a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the ground meat and cook, stirring occasionally, until browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes.
  3. Drain excess fat, then add the taco seasoning and 1/3 cup water. Stir to combine and cook until the sauce thickens, about 3 minutes.
  4. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Arrange the taco shells on a baking sheet and warm in the oven for 3 minutes, until lightly crisp.
  5. While the shells warm, chop the vegetables: shred the lettuce, dice the tomatoes, and slice the jalapeños, about 5 minutes.
  6. Assemble the tacos by evenly dividing the seasoned meat among the shells.
  7. Top each taco with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and shredded cheese.
  8. Serve with sour cream and salsa on the side.
  9. Enjoy immediately while warm.

Notes

For extra flavor, let the meat marinate in the taco seasoning for 30 minutes before cooking.
