Tequila Old Fashioned

Ingredients

  • 2 oz tequila preferably aƱejo
  • 1/4 oz agave syrup
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 1 orange peel twist
  • 1 large ice cube

  • Mixing glass
  • Bar spoon
  • Jigger or measuring tool
  • Strainer
  • Old-fashioned glass
  • Ice

Method
 

  1. Chill a mixing glass for a few minutes to cool it down.
  2. Measure and pour 2 oz of tequila into the chilled mixing glass.
  3. Add 1/4 oz of agave syrup to the tequila.
  4. Add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters to the mixture.
  5. Stir gently with a bar spoon for 20 to 30 seconds until well chilled and combined.
  6. Place a large ice cube into an old-fashioned glass to slow dilution.
  7. Strain the mixed cocktail over the ice cube in the glass.
  8. Express the oils of an orange peel twist over the drink, then drop the peel in as garnish.

Notes

For an extra twist, try adding a few drops of smoked chili bitters to give your cocktail a delightful kick.
