Method
- Gather all ingredients and equipment before starting.
- In a mixing bowl, combine 1/2 cup soy sauce, 1/4 cup rice vinegar, and 2 tablespoons sesame oil.
- Stir in 1/4 cup brown sugar until fully dissolved.
- Add 2 cloves minced garlic and 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger, mixing well.
- If desired, whisk in 1 tablespoon cornstarch to thicken the marinade.
- Use a whisk or fork to blend the mixture until smooth and sugar granules are fully dissolved.
- Place protein or vegetables in a seal-able bag or container, pour the marinade over them, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to 12 hours.
- After marinating, cook the items by grilling over medium-high heat for 5-7 minutes per side or stir-frying on medium-high heat for 5-10 minutes until caramelized and cooked through.
Notes
This marinade can be made up to one week in advance and stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
