Ingredients
  

Main
  • 2 oz tequila
  • 1 oz orange liqueur Cointreau or Triple Sec
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup adjust to taste
  • Salt for rimming, optional
  • Lime wedges for garnish

Equipment

  • Margarita or rocks glasses

Method
 

  1. Run a lime wedge around the rim of the glass, then dip it into salt to coat.
  2. Use a jigger to measure 2 oz tequila, 1 oz orange liqueur, 1 oz fresh lime juice, and 1/2 oz simple syrup.
  3. Pour all measured ingredients into a shaker.
  4. Add ice to the shaker and shake vigorously for 15 seconds to chill and combine.
  5. Taste the mixture and adjust sweetness or tartness with additional simple syrup or lime juice as desired.
  6. Fill the prepared glass with fresh ice, then strain the margarita into the glass.
  7. Garnish with a lime wedge on the rim or drop it into the drink.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy responsibly.

Notes

Adjust the sweetness with simple syrup or lime juice to suit your taste. For a frozen version, blend all ingredients with ice until smooth.
