  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise or cream cheese
  • 1 tablespoon fresh basil chopped

Method
 

  1. Wash and slice the tomatoes thinly. Use ripe tomatoes for the best flavor and juiciness.
  2. In a mixing bowl, blend mayonnaise and chopped basil. Set aside.
  3. Toast the bread slices until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes in a toaster or grill.
  4. Sprinkle salt and pepper on the tomato slices to enhance flavor.
  5. Spread the basil mayonnaise generously on one side of each toasted bread slice.
  6. Place the sliced tomatoes on one of the bread slices, evenly distributing to ensure consistent flavor.
  7. Top with the second bread slice, spread side down, pressing gently.
  8. Slice the sandwich diagonally to serve.

Notes

Use fresh herbs and ripe tomatoes for the best flavor. You can add cheese or other herbs for variation.
