Ingredients

Main
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon butter melted (optional)

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Spatula

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the powdered sugar and milk. Whisk until smooth, about 1-2 minutes.
  2. Add the vanilla extract and whisk until fully incorporated and the mixture is smooth.
  3. If the glaze is too thick, add more milk, a teaspoon at a time, until pourable but still thick enough to cling to your dessert.
  4. If using, add the melted butter and whisk again until fully integrated, about 30 seconds.
  5. Whisk the mixture well for 30 seconds to ensure a silky smooth consistency.
  6. Let the glaze sit for 1-2 minutes to slightly thicken as it cools.
  7. Prepare your baked dessert, ensuring it is still warm for optimal absorption.
  8. Using a spatula or spoon, drizzle the glaze generously over your baked goods, allowing it to cascade down the sides for a beautiful presentation.

Notes

Always whisk the glaze right before using to ensure a smooth, glossy finish. Adjust consistency with additional milk if necessary. For a thicker glaze, use less milk from the start.
