  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 large eggs
  • 3 cups diced apples about 3 medium apples
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce for drizzling optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan with butter or non-stick spray.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking soda, ground cinnamon, and salt.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in the diced apples and chopped walnuts or pecans.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly with a spatula.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool completely in the pan before cutting.

Notes

Let the cake cool completely before cutting to prevent it from falling apart. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
