- Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water for one minute until the water runs clear.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, water, and salt.
- Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a boil, watching closely to avoid spills.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and add the minced garlic and sesame oil.
- Cover the pot with a lid and let it simmer for 15 minutes without lifting the lid.
- After 15 minutes, remove the saucepan from heat and keep it covered for another 5 minutes.
- Use a fork to gently fluff the rice, creating a light and separate texture.
- Transfer the rice to a serving dish, drizzle with soy sauce, and garnish with sliced green onions.
Notes
For added flavor, sauté the garlic in sesame oil before adding the rice.
