Method
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 500g bread flour, 7g instant yeast, and 10g salt.
- Pour in 350ml warm water and mix with a wooden spoon until a shaggy dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough, divide into four equal pieces, and shape each into a baguette.
- Place the shaped baguettes on a parchment-lined baking sheet, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
- During the second rise, preheat the oven to 220°C (425°F).
- Score the tops of the baguettes with a sharp knife and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
Notes
For an extra crispy crust, place a pan with ice cubes on the oven floor when baking.
