Ingredients

Main
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Mixing bowl
  • Electric mixer
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Cookie scoop or tablespoon

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time and mix in the vanilla extract until combined.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  7. Fold in the chocolate chips with a spatula.
  8. Use a cookie scoop to place dough on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10 to 12 minutes until edges are golden.

Notes

For extra chewy cookies, slightly underbake them—they will continue to set on the baking sheet.
