- In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
- Shape the mixture into four equal patties, about 1 inch thick.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil.
- Add the patties to the skillet and cook for about 4–5 minutes on each side until browned.
- Transfer the cooked patties to a plate and cover with foil to keep warm.
- In the same skillet, add sliced mushrooms and sauté until golden brown, about 5 minutes.
- Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms and stir, then gradually whisk in the beef broth to form a smooth gravy.
- Add garlic powder and thyme, return patties to the skillet, and simmer for about 5 minutes to meld flavors.
Notes
For extra flavor, deglaze the skillet with a splash of red wine after sautéing the mushrooms.
