- Combine 1 cup warm water (110°F to 115°F), 1 tablespoon sugar, and 1 packet active dry yeast in a large resealable plastic bag; seal and let sit for 5 minutes until bubbly.
- In a bowl, mix 2 cups all-purpose flour and 1 teaspoon salt until evenly distributed.
- Add the flour mixture to the bag, seal, and gently knead inside for 2-3 minutes until a dough forms.
- Open the bag, add 2 tablespoons olive oil, reseal, and knead for an additional 1 minute to incorporate.
- Let the sealed bag sit in a warm place for 30 minutes or until the dough doubles in size.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) while the dough is rising.
- Punch down the dough inside the bag, remove it, and shape into a loaf.
- Place the shaped dough on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 30 minutes or until golden brown and hollow sounding when tapped.
Notes
Ensure your yeast is fresh for best rise; expired yeast can lead to dense bread.
