- Clear your workspace and gather the skillet, spoon, and glass container.
- Slice 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter into even pieces to ensure uniform melting.
- Place a light-colored skillet or saucepan over medium heat (about 325°F) and let it warm for 1 minute.
- Add the butter pieces to the pan and swirl gently until melted, about 2 minutes.
- Stir constantly with a wooden spoon or silicone spatula, scraping the bottom to prevent sticking, for 3 to 5 minutes until the butter turns deep amber and nutty aromas emerge.
- Remove the pan from heat immediately once brown bits form and the color is a rich golden brown.
- Carefully pour the brown butter into a glass container, leaving the browned solids behind for a clearer butter, and let it cool before sealing.
