Method
- Measure 2 tablespoons of Chinese mustard powder into a small mixing bowl.
- Slowly whisk in 2 tablespoons of cold water to form a smooth paste, adding up to 1 more tablespoon to reach desired consistency.
- Stir in 1 tablespoon of white vinegar until fully combined.
- Add 1/4 teaspoon of salt and mix well to enhance the flavors.
- Optionally mix in 1/2 teaspoon of sugar for a touch of sweetness.
- Let the mustard rest at room temperature for at least 10 minutes to develop its heat.
- Transfer the mustard to an air-tight container and refrigerate until ready to use.
Notes
Store in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Flavor intensifies the longer it rests.
