Ingredients

Main
  • 1 cup cooked and drained chopped spinach
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup chopped water chestnuts optional
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onions

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Spatula or wooden spoon
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Serving dish

Method

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, cook the chopped spinach until wilted, about 3 minutes, then transfer to a fine mesh sieve and press to remove excess moisture.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the sour cream, softened cream cheese, and mayonnaise, stirring until smooth.
  3. Add the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper to the creamy mixture and stir to combine evenly.
  4. Fold the drained spinach into the seasoned cream base until evenly distributed.
  5. If using, fold in the chopped water chestnuts and green onions to add crunch and freshness.
  6. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the dip for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld.
  7. Transfer the chilled dip to a serving dish and garnish with extra green onions before serving.
