- In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup apricot preserves, 1/4 cup rice vinegar, and 2 tablespoons soy sauce over medium heat.
- Stir in 1 tablespoon fresh ginger and 1 teaspoon garlic until evenly distributed.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until smooth.
- If the sauce is too thick, add 1-2 tablespoons of water or additional rice vinegar to reach desired consistency.
- Optional: sprinkle in 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes for added heat and stir to combine.
- Remove from heat and stir in 1 tablespoon sesame oil for a nutty aroma.
- Let the sauce cool to room temperature for about 15 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
- Transfer the cooled sauce to a storage container and refrigerate for up to one week before serving.
