  • 1 pound fresh green beans trimmed
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • Oil for frying vegetable or canola

Method
 

  1. Trim the ends of the green beans to ensure they are bite-sized and cook evenly.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Pour buttermilk into a separate bowl for dipping.
  4. Dip each green bean into the buttermilk, coating thoroughly, then dredge in the flour mixture.
  5. Heat oil in a large pot or deep fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Fry the coated green beans in batches for 3-5 minutes, until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove the beans with a slotted spoon or tongs and drain on paper towels.
  8. Immediately season with a pinch of salt while beans are hot.
  9. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ranch or aioli.
