Method
- Chill your margarita glass in the freezer for at least 10 minutes to ensure it stays cold longer.
- Cut the lime in half and juice into a bowl, then juice half a lemon to yield 1 ounce of lime juice and 0.5 ounce of lemon juice.
- Pour 2 ounces of premium silver tequila into a cocktail shaker using a jigger for precise measurement.
- Add 1 ounce of triple sec or Cointreau to the shaker on top of the tequila.
- Add the fresh citrus juices (1 ounce lime and 0.5 ounce lemon) into the shaker.
- Fill the shaker about halfway with ice cubes to chill the drink properly.
- Seal the shaker and shake vigorously for 10 to 15 seconds until the outside of the shaker frosts.
- Run a lime wedge around the rim of the chilled glass and dip the rim into kosher salt to coat evenly.
- Strain the margarita into the prepared glass over fresh ice, garnish with a lime wheel, and serve immediately.
Notes
For best results, use fresh citrus and quality tequila, and serve immediately.
