- Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil in a small saucepan over medium heat.
- Add 1 small red onion, finely diced, and sauté for 5-7 minutes until translucent and fragrant.
- Stir in 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar, salt and pepper to taste, then remove from heat.
- Preheat grill or grill pan to medium-high heat (around 400°F/200°C).
- Grill 4 beef hot dogs for 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally until nicely charred.
- Place 4 hot dog buns on the grill for 1 minute, toasting lightly.
- Spread a generous layer of 1 cup softened cream cheese inside each toasted bun.
- Insert the grilled hot dogs into the buns, pressing gently into the cream cheese.
- Top each hot dog with the sautéed onions and serve immediately.
