Ingredients

Main
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Whisk or fork

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line your baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. In a mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
  4. Mix in the vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  7. Gently fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  8. Scoop tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them a couple of inches apart, then bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly golden and centers remain soft.

Notes

For softer cookies, slightly underbake them; they will continue cooking on the baking sheet!
