Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup adjust to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper optional, enhances absorption
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice optional, for brightness

  • Fine mesh strainer
  • Cup or mug for serving

Method
 

  1. Bring 2 cups of water to a gentle boil in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Stir in 1 teaspoon ground turmeric and 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger.
  3. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup to sweeten.
  5. Pour the tea through a fine mesh strainer into cups to remove any residue.
  6. Stir in 1/2 teaspoon black pepper and 1 tablespoon lemon juice, if using, for enhanced flavor and benefits.
  7. Optionally, garnish with a sprinkle of ground cinnamon before serving.
  8. Serve the turmeric tea warm and enjoy.

Notes

Make a larger batch and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Shake well before serving.
