Method
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a saute pan, melt 1/2 cup unsalted butter over medium heat. Add 1 cup diced celery and 1 cup diced onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 5 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 8 chopped White Castle sliders, 2 cups plain bread crumbs, 2 teaspoons dried sage, 1 teaspoon dried thyme, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper.
- Stir in the sautéed vegetables with their melted butter into the bread mixture.
- Slowly pour in 3 cups chicken broth, stirring gently until the bread is moist but not soggy.
- Add the beaten egg and stir well to bind the mixture.
- Spread the stuffing mixture evenly in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Bake uncovered at 350°F (175°C) for 30 minutes or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
Notes
Let the stuffing sit for 10 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
