Ingredients

Main
  • 1 head of romaine lettuce chopped
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 2 cloves of garlic minced
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon of vinegar optional

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • Sharp knife
  • Cutting board
  • Measuring spoons

Method

  1. Wash and chop the romaine lettuce into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Place a large skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil, heating until shimmering, about 1 minute.
  3. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add the chopped lettuce to the skillet and stir to coat with oil and garlic.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Continue to cook, stirring gently, until the lettuce wilts but still retains some crunch, about 2 to 3 minutes.
  7. If using vinegar, drizzle it over the lettuce and stir for an additional 30 seconds.
  8. Remove from heat and transfer the wilted lettuce to a serving dish immediately.

Notes

For extra flavor, sprinkle grated Parmesan or feta on top just before serving.
